In Memory of Bill Lehman

William C. Lehman

A message from our family: William C. “Bill” Lehman passed away on July 5, 2019. He was born in Denver on March 19, 1926 to George and Amelia (née Hoery) Lehman. He was raised in Denver and attended South High School before joining the army during WWII. He was trained as a ground mechanic to service B 17 Flying Fortress aircraft in Amarillo and was awaiting deployment to the Philippines, where he served as an Airplane Crew Chief, when the war ended. He returned to Denver after his service and worked in the family greenhouse business. He soon met the love of his life, Janice Rourke, and they married on November 6, 1948. They raised their 7 children in Littleton. Bill worked in the greenhouse industry for many years and continued part-time handyman work after retirement. Bill loved water skiing, hunting, pinochle, Colorado sports teams, and above all, his family. He was diagnosed with prostate cancer at the age of 80, but was fortunate to live several more years in relative good health. He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, George Lehman, and sister, Mildred Baker, and his wife of nearly 68 years, Janice. He is survived by two daughters, Christine (John) Mayerle and Joanne (Warren) Ida, and five sons, Don (Gayla), Doug (Lisa), Dave (Suzanne), Dan (Amy), and Dale Lehman, and numerous grandkids and great-grandkids, as well as a sister, Mary Weber, and a brother, Joe Lehman.
